Our Favorite
Whether you love the thrill of a roller coaster or simply have a sweet tooth, you can satisfy all your cravings at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Advertised as the “Sweetest Place on Earth,” the park’s 100-plus acres has more than 65 rides and attractions suitable for the whole family.
If you’re seeking thrills, take on Skyrush, the park’s tallest and fastest coaster that shoots riders down a 200-foot drop, reaching speeds of 75 miles per hour before zipping through four hair-raising turns and five zero-G airtime hills.
Then there’s Storm Runner, where trains are launched from zero to 72 miles per hour in two seconds before barreling through a “Cobra Loop” and harrowing “Flying Snake Dive.”
For those looking for something a little bit calmer, you can float down a lazy river and wave pool, explore a wildlife park called ZooAmerica, take in live entertainment options, or simply enjoy all the chocolate that they have to offer.
You can’t talk about amusement parks without mentioning Cedar Point, known as the roller coaster capital of the world with its 17 magnificent coasters. Of those 17 coaster, 11 are rated at the highest thrill level, including the highest and longest steel wing coaster in the world.
More than three million people visit the park every year, most of which seek out the thrill of Millennium Force that reaches speeds of 93 miles per hour. Or Steel Vengeance, which is the tallest, fastest, and longest hybrid coaster, packing in almost 30 seconds of airtime — which is the most of any coaster in the world
But there’s more than just thrills at this park, making it perfect for groups and families, because there’s something for everyone.
Take in Cedar Point Shores Waterpark, get a behind-the-scenes look at the rides with Sunrise Thrills, take a waverunner on Cedar Point Beach, or simply walk the many dining and shopping options before checking out live shows and entertainment.
Family vacations can supply lifelong memories, and there’s no shortage of destinations that can satisfy every member of your crew. But no list would be complete without mentioning the timeless appeal, thrill rides, and fun performances at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Engineered specifically for families, the notion that only young ones will enjoy this city’s charms is horribly outdated. While the young ones will take to things like donning mouse ears, the whole family can enjoy things like roller coasters, great restaurants, Pirates of the Caribbean, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Journey to Pandora, the World of Avatar, Tower of Terror, fireworks shows, Animal Kingdom, and Cinderella’s Castle.
Don’t forget about the other theme parks like Universal Orlando Resort, where you’ll find The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Then you can swim with dolphins and snorkel in the park’s coral reef at Discovery Cove.
Being the most popular theme park in the world, we suggest visiting during a less crowded month like March or November.
Call the expert travel agents at Sunset Travel & Cruise for special Disney vacation packages, or explore any theme park in the US like a pro with our exclusive access to insider deals.
Our Travel Agents Recommend…
When you go to this theme park destination, you get three major attractions in one — including an amusement park, a marine park, and a zoo that cover about 225 acres on the south side of Hong Kong Island.
There are more than 80 rides and attractions in two distinct areas — The Waterfront and The Summit — which are connected via a cable car and funicular train.
Thrill seekers seek out the Hair Raiser ride, which pairs views of the bay and extreme thrills as the floorless steel coaster’s extreme inversions dangles riders over the mountainside.
Major attractions include: Shark Mystique, Polar Adventure, Rainforest, Aqua City, Sea Jelly Spectacular, and dozens more.
Covering 160 acres, Europa Park is the continent’s largest and busiest amusement park, making it one of Germany’s most popular attractions. Located in south-western Rust, it draws more than 5.5 million thrill-seekers each year, many of whom are there for its 12 dynamic roller coasters and 17 globally themed districts, all representing different European countries, similar to what you might find at Epcot.
Along with the thrill rides, they offer a Panorama Train, 4D Magic Cinema, Adventure Playground, an African Queen boat trip, virtual roller coaster rides, a unique indoor sports world, Atlantica SuperSplash, Atlantis Adventure, a Carnival Barn Museum, Dwarf City, an Enchanted Forest Cinema, Euro-Tower with spectacular views and more.
The universal language of fun is found at Tokyo Disneyland, where Mickey-san and his friends entertain the same way they do in the California and Florida Disney parks. As Japan’s most popular theme park, it’s the third most attended park in the world after the Magic Kingdom in Orlando and Disneyland California.
Tokyo Disneyland (which also includes Tokyo DisneySea) includes 100 acres and many of Disney’s signature theme park attractions.
Experience Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, and Peter Pan’s Flight. It also includes theme lands like World Bazaar, Tomorrowland, Toontown, Fantasyland, Critter Country, Westernland, and Adventureland… in Japan!
When you’re not enjoying the rides, take in the truly unique shows that include a dinner theater production called “Mickey & Company” and a Latin-infused “Minnie Oh! Minnie.”
